Professional Background
Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang F. Buhre served as EDU’s second Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health in from February 2021 to September 2022. Prof. Buhre’s medical career spans almost 30 years with a significant focus on research in the areas of cardiovascular anaesthesiology, optimised care pathway for high-risk patients, process optimisation in academic medicine, and information technology. From January 2020, Prof. Buhre held the title of Director and Founding Chair for Maastricht University Medical Centre’s (MUMC) Centre for Acute and Critical Care (Netherlands). Prof. Buhre has been a well-regarded professor of anaesthesiology within MUMC’s Department of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine since 2013.
Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Buhre currently is the new Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Utrecht University Medical Centre (UMCU) and was also recently appointed Professor of Anesthesiology at Utrecht University.
